The NPC's will 2 tap me. Generic Body shot about 50hp each. Is there a way to reduce their damage across the all NPCs? I've received complaints from players that they're too OP. Looking for some help to balance these guys to maybe around normal NPC difficulty.

sorry, didn't realize that the input just flashes to indicate you've posted. I thought it was indicating something was wrong.

Currently there are no ways to affect all NPCs at the same time, mostly due to haw much variance there is between them by default. That being said, although it is a little bit of a pain at first, just take your time with it start on smaller monuments and files to get used to the adjustments then you will get quicker with it. Eventually there will be an in game editor but it is not complete yet. Until then you can do a few things like increase their aim cone (their cone of shots being increased makes them miss more), and lower their damage within the configuration for each file.

No worries. Did throw me off for a moment. I was starting to reply and noticed there was another page with replies after it already. 💩 happens.

OK thank you. I figured that was the solution. It's probably a major effort, but as a suggestion, it would be slick to be able to set up NPC groups separately and point to them for each monument rather than have the settings defined in every monument file.

To that regard even though it is still a bit of work, copy and paste the portion(s) of the file that you want to be the same. They are all structured the same so those sections can be copied and pasted if you are careful not to lose or add any commas or brackets.

In zone 0 it starts creating ships non-stop, and at the top, on land (not in zone 0) tanks start coming non-stop and NPCs in loop mode. It happens to me on all maps and the FPS drops in that area

How Can I Change The Loot Of Dead NPCs? I Dont Want Loot.

In any of the configuration files you can set up loot profiles and anything else regarding the NPCs. These are in the data folder.

This is either a server issue or a plugin that is not handling spawning and despawning tugboats properly. This would not in any way be happening as a result of BetterNpc to be honest so that much I can say for sure. What it is you said about NPCs I'm not sure I follow so if you want to explain that further so far I'm not seeing what this would have to do with BetterNpc.

The only time you will see NPCs in this area of the map would be because a config has more min max spawning NPCs than there are locations for them to spawn.

Is there a small procedure or rough guide I can follow to create new NPCs at standard monuments or define new locations for existing NPCs?

I run just typical procedural maps from Rustmaps but my players have become 'wise' so I would like to mix things up.

There is information in the Description. But if you'd like to join the Mad Mapper Discord I can update my guide but otherwise it is mostly straight forward, especially to just modify and add to existing standard monument files, but including creating your own custom locations if you want.

The commands are all in the Description but if you need assistance at all just let us know.

That sounds like server performance as much as anything, what steps have you taken to show that this plugin is the cause? Have you adjusted the numbers, or turned off sleep mode for the NPCs? The plugin is updated regularly along with NpcSpawn to optimize the plugin as changes happen in the game.

I set up a server where the plugin always worked perfectly until after the October update where NPCs spawned in the air and also caused rubber banding 😞 I actually removed all the plugins little by little and it only got better when I uninstalled betternpc have

Floating NPCs mean you probably left Custom files enabled when you changed maps.

It works.

Install NpcSpawn.cs onto your server
    - (free and does come with the horrid instructions as well as included in the Description details)
Install Data files into your server
Install BetterNpc.cs onto your server

Funny enough the instructions said to dump the "ENTIRE FOLDER" into it. So now I have a zipped folder in oxide>data, plus the plugins from those folders it told me to throw in...

  • It says to install the BetterNpc folder from the download specifically
  • The download has a data folder inside it, and funny enough there is a BetterNpc folder inside of it
    • (The BetterNpc folder that the directions are actually talking about)

When i read "install the betternpc folder" I literally put the folder in. I'm sorry I'm not well versed in this modding stuff for Rust, but that to me is a literal translation of moving the folder into the data. I don't read it as anything else. It's easy for you because you've dealt with it.

I got it to work, but folder still in the oxide/data, not sure what to do with it.

You don't have to apologize at all. I am merely pointing out that just because the directions were misunderstood, does not mean they are inefficient or inaccurate. Reading it today I see it in the way you are saying. To me it just doesn't make sense at all so it didn't compute but yes I see where you take those words and can come up with the idea. I might talk with K about adding the word 'inside' to help indicate that it's the folder we are talking about and avoid confusion for customers new to all of this.

Delete it. Won't hurt anything but go ahead and delete it.

I am wondering if there is a possibility to swap out better NPC's for the heavies on the oil rigs?

Currently there is not a way to do this as it is a small mini event by Facepunch. Though we consider and look at all suggestions so thank you for sharing!
