Afternoon @imthenewguy

Been loving this plugin for years now..
Ive recently added it to a hardcore server, is there a way to disable the buffs the food gives and just have the ability to make different food.
Players on the hardcore server prefer to not have buffs from the cooking plugin, but love the ability to find and cook different things.

If this isnt an option, im happy to inject some cash to make it happen.
also, big thanks for adding the ability to make a "cuppa tea", its been my favorite thing to make for years now. I do love a personal touch.

i agree. currently trying to set it up so the food items are minus their buffs. instead they give food/health/hydration.  i want to keep the pick up notifications so players are introduced to the mod as they pick new ingredients up, and to remind others the mod is there.  but disable the buff icons / system and the text chat notice as it's descriptions will be incorrect for my usage.

love the mod.  have used it for years but never tried altering it's usage like this. Would be amazing if you can add anything to enable/disable the individual aspects with permissions. I see perms for notices but they don't quite cover these bases.

There are a couple of ways you could set it up. You could use the Ingredient Buff type for all of your meals, and set the below config option to true:

"Allow the default effects of an item that an ingredient inherits to apply when eaten [if no other buffs are assigned]?"

Alternatively you could set the buffs as Extra_Calories or Extra_Hydration (or both) and set the value of calories/hydration the player receives for consuming the food, so you can make some foods more satiating than others etc.

Thanks, That's confirmation I'm on the right track! I've personally disabled all the special bonuses in favor of a mix of Health/Calories/Hydration.  I've nerfed all vanilla foods with another plugin and removed all healing properties from them. I'm just trying to make a nice balance/transition from default foods to your custom dishes.  love that I can let people find the cards in boxes.  i upped the spawn rate of them and also upped the ingredient rates.

all in the hope of making things a little more survival like for PVE. Thanks again, quality plugin.

So I am aware that the custom ingredients and meals added by the plugin are just reskinned base game items so this may not even be possible, but...

Is there any way to make the ingredients and meals sellable in vending machines? At least the meals would be nice.

Like I said, I don't think it's possible but I am also not a dev so wouldn't even know HOW to plan a work-around.

Thanks!

Just tested it for you.  Yes you can. but only one type of food per vending machine.   place the food you want to sell in the vending machine, set the item type for sale to cooked fish.   voila.   if you place two types of food in the machine the vending machine just see's the first item entered.

edit: only tested with cooked meals. not ingredients.

scrap that. it all works apart from.... the vending machine on the map shows the fish not the cooked meal 😞    what a shame.

I built this plugin specifically due to the limitations of the default vending systems.
