This plugin is really cool but this drop in fps makes it unfeasible to use, it would be a good idea to review your writing as a boat with a few occupants shouldn't require so much processing.

I installed this update today (1.0.7) and the problem of excessive gpu usage that drops by another 20 fps, the same problem continues even though I only spawn 1 or 2 boats.

Most servers run this plugin with no issues so likely there is a reason that they are having this issue only on certain servers. Just disabling it won't really fix it but it is hard to fix without lots of information or at least just the right information that helps guide us.

This is being tested and looked into as we find the time for it. But sometimes these things are not easily reproduced without more specifics.

Two total? There are multiple presets people forget about sometimes. There was a customer who had once increased a 2nd or 3rd preset to a very high number and forgot, so they continued only to edit the first preset. Just a thought though and only curious for confirmation.

They are minimum 1 and maximum 2 and my server is on a dedicated machine i7, ssd, 15gb, nv 1050, I believe it is a relatively healJbirdthy machine to run the rust server - RUST VIP EXPERT |PVP|5X|EXCLUSIVE WORLD MAP|

Would any of you be willing to jump in a ticket in the Mad Mapper Discord? We can create a group ticket and I can add everyone too it so we can get with KpucTaJl and see if there is anything we can do to improve things.

@Jbird - tbh, I set the minimum and maximum to the same number a while back and just have a minimal number of boats; my players do not interact with them much and I've started to wonder if it's worthwhile to have installed. My next map is more land/air focused. 

I also don't have much time to test this over the next few weeks... when I do have more cycles, I'll check in on the Discord.

Probably won't need to do a lot of testing mostly just having everyone in one place to answer questions or give information. Completely understand being busy though been a really busy year for me this Summer especially.

It would be great if I could set the probability of each boat presets to spawn.

Such a feature would make me very happy.

Thank you for the update! Sorted it quick didn't you?

The Y value in the coordinates is not important the plugin will set that itself as the water is moving with the waves but the X and Z otherwise will set the positions. Glad you were able to handle it!

If you're referring to the resource drain, it's still present. Really the best thing that we can suggest at the moment is to reduce the count, keeping in mind that there are multiple presets in the default. Some people only edit the first set not realizing the other two.

When the water system was updated it caused a large increase in resources used when the plugin is running because of how complex the water system is now. If and when we find something that could otherwise reduce the server strain it's definitely something we are aware of and would like to remedy, but we couldn't predict the change in the water system or how much it would affect this one plugin.

Hello,

is it possible to add an option so that Water Patrol doesn't shoot first? On a small map, the boats spawn very close on the shore. If I reduce the size of the sense and I have to set it to 40 because the Water Patrol attacks people directly on the shore when they spawn. The problem is with Sense 40 you have to get very close to Water Patrol for them to attack. 

But for a small map, 40 sense is what I need. And the deepest point in the water is 45 meters.

I am confused a bit though, with your conditions they should attack when they are attacked. Have you lowered the chase range as well? If the chase range is high enough they will respond when they are attacked, and you can leave the sense range lower as you have it. I am just confused because your settings do essentially what you are asking.

and for your information, you can set chase range to 1000, Water Patrol will only move to the opponent with the value of sense range.

They are always there, but they don't move around until a player goes near them or attacks them. Even having them remain in one place, when Facepunch updated the water system the performance hit from this plugin crew quite a bit per active boat. Once defeated they respawn based on configured timers.

They tend to be near Oil Rigs often which I love and is part of why I wanted them. Custom locations can be set as well.

No it is nothing you are doing wrong.

When the plugin was first released it was a relatively minor affect on performance. But then along came the water update and it really took a toll on the plugin. It was very unfortunate and wasn't able to be predicted when the plugin was first released.

The best counter is to lower the total amount. The only think you may have missed is that there are several presets in the plugin by default. I forget off the top of my head how many there are but you might have reduced the number in the first preset, but there are still others with the default amounts.

Double check, and try reducing the overall count to see if you can get a comfortable amount of boats running without too much of a hit to server performance.

One feature that should help a little bit, is there is an option to give them custom locations. This can be helpful because you can reduce the numbers but have them in targeted areas like Oil Rig or other places of interest.

The y axis or the 2nd coordinate is not as important as the height will be automatically dependent on the water level, but the x and z or 1st and 3rd coordinates are what will define the spot the boats will spawn.

Hopefully that might help a bit.

I have been having this on 3 different server attempts. I deployed one put this plugin with BetterNpc and a few others on. fps went down the drain from 168 to 40. The minute I unload waterpatrol fps increases back to where it was. Ive had to just dump this plugin. not happy about it either. The other issue I have, is the boats will spawn with NPC's and then several hours later the boats are empty and new boats with NPCs wont spawn. Apparently im the only one this is happening to............ I have done a new server deploy with only 5 plugins. BetterNpc, WaterPatrol, SupermarketEvent, Backpacks and BackpackButtons.. Still same thing. I even ran just WaterPatrol by its self nothing else.. Was ok for about 5 hours and right around 6 hour mark fps went down to 9 and no boats spawned with npcs, all boats that were currently out were empty.
