I think it would be a good idea to use, as 2x is a low speed, synchronizing the wood and ores would be the best option! -
For now, just leaving the empty message in the lang file will solve your problem, but this will be changed in the upcoming version 2.0.

If you want to add exactly one level, change its current behavior to default plug-in mode (just set "legacy mode" to false), and now just set the furnace status of the next level, this will make the player only need upgrade the furnace once to receive all level 2 attributes. Answering your questions: 1. Yes, this is the vanilla default behavior. 2. In the current version of the furnace updates (this will be changed in the next v2) you have an option called “Fuel Efficiencyâ€, this is an option that by increasing this attribute your wood will burn slower, should be a good thing initially, but it is inverse, players need to burn the wood faster, not slower, and so the fuel efficiency becomes real shit, and this option called "Base Fuel Speed in Casting Speed Multiplier?" is to synchronize the wood burning speed with the casting speed. Therefore, whenever you increase the smelting speed of your furnace, it will burn the wood faster as well.

For now the only way is to use NotesFilter, but I'll look for better ways to make this easier A great idea, I'll search about and try to add it, but I'm not sure it will be possible

I believe that furnace levels did not support ERM, but I will contact the ERM developer and try to adapt the plugins so that they work in harmony

Just define a filter for each npc, open an online mid file editing tool, see the notes you want to be played by an instrument for example: "B#4", "B6" etc... And add them to the NPC note filter with the instrument you want
