Just as a heads-up to keep in mind while updating the plugin: Even though I disabled the workshop auto import, and removed any approved skins that were added in the config manually or imported with a collection, I still see a very small amount of approved skins in the UI when skinning objects while they are not present in the config.

So now does that mean all the skinning plugins are of no use? will there be any use for them, a side from not having to use a work bench? FP is so f'd up, i dont even want to update.

The new rule is only for Official skins and DLC's

Of course there will be a use for skin plugins.  There are thousands of unofficial skins for Rust.

Since we are no longer allowed to use approved purchasable skins in the plugin, do I have to set this parameter to false like this so that new "paid" skins are not automatically imported again?

"Auto import approved skins": false,

Yes

I'd like to ask for a quick status update. I don't want to push or annoy anyone, neither of us.
Skins are immensely important to many players, and I'd like to know if we're "force wipe safe" with this or if changing plugins is more advisable.

I created a plugin that scrubs approved skins from the Skinner Config and creates a clean version for you named Skinner_Cleaned. Simply delete your old file and rename this one. Seemed to work well on all my servers and should catch most if not all of them. Will help give you a head start until an update is made to prevent them from loading in. NOTE: You'll need to remove your Collections or they will just load back in again. If I get @Whispers88 OK i can post it here.

Whispers already said he's got it handled. Have some faith. He's worked hard on this plugin. He's not just gonna drop the ball.

So your NPC's are allowed to wear official skins so I guess you can have them, but players cannot. lol I think FP is just pissed cause they can't control their cheater base and server owners handle them better....

I trust he will complete this and props to him but that is not why I created the plugin. I run 16 servers and removing skins early allowed me to rework not only the skins but all the kits and Loot tables tied to them. This is time consuming work and Admins need time to complete and transition to the new system and conform to the new guidelines. The plugin gave me two weeks head start which in my busy schedule is always welcome.

Thanks for compiling this list. There is one more thing I have not been able to find an answer to.

Will workshop skins have a label or icon indicating their Official / Approved or Unofficial / Unapproved status?

I guess i still dont understand. There shouldnt be any reworking. Im sure there will be a config option to disable approved skins and/or check if player owns skin before applying. All your current skins aren't going anywhere.

Hey everyone just a quick update. Ive been packing some new features into this update that I think you are all going to really enjoy, I personally am not a fan of the sudden removal of game accepted skins so there will be options I'm adding to skinner that will hopefully help smooth things over for your player base.

I don't want to go into too much detail into the extra features side, however currently in the update I have new options for removing all FP accepted skins/dlcs, automatic filtering for imported skins and commands to remove imported skins as well.

If anyone has questions feel free to dm me or discuss in my discord. https://discord.gg/cobaltstudios
