 ✅ COMPATIBILITY WITH FACEPUNCH NEW POLICY

As some of you may already know, Facepunch has updated its server policies regarding the distribution of paid content.
Servers are no longer allowed to provide paid Skins or DLC for free to players who have not purchased them legitimately.

Because of this, BetterTC has been updated to fully comply with the new guidelines:

✅ Skin ownership validation added:

Only the following will be shown or usable:

  • Building skins, Tool Cupboard (TC) skins, and Wallpapers that the player legitimately owns in their Steam inventory.
  • Any existing free skins.

Key notes:

  • All available building skins will still be shown, but players can only use them for upgrading or reskinning if they own them or they are free.
  • Only free, custom, and owned wallpapers will be visible. More custom wallpapers coming soon.
  • TC skins will only be visible and selectable if the player owns them.

✅ New configuration option:

  "Bypass DLC ownership check (⚠ only allowed on creative/test servers per Facepunch rules)": false,

⚠️ VERY IMPORTANT

This option should only be enabled on creative or training servers. Using it on public PvP or PvE servers violates Facepunch’s policies and may result in your server being penalized or blacklisted.

Have you been able to confirm that this only happens with the added plugin?
If so, have you tried a copy of the server with all the plugins on another server? To test which plugin is causing the conflict, etc.?

No one has reported this to me, so it would be great to know a few more details to find the root of the problem.

I don't have that plugin purchased, but if it uses the same Hooks as the free version it should be compatible.

Hi Nico!

 

I have confirmed this does not happen with the plugin removed, I have not removed any other plugins, just this 1 and it stopped happening.

Please run a root-test by discarding other plugins and keeping BetterTC to see which one is causing the conflict.

So, I've put BetterTC back in and so far so good, doesn't seem to be an issue, so it must have been a previous plugin causing it.

 

However, I have been informed by players that they are unable to access their jungle skin through the TC

nvm I'm dumb, deleted config, fine!

После обновления появилась проблема после рестарта стали пропадать части зданий рандомно. После отключения плагина проблема решилась.

just do this in the config  Wallpaper Enable": false  its nothing todo with this plugin its rust its self just add this plugin for now it will fix your problems for now

Thanks for letting me know! I just realized that `gametip.showgametip` isn't working. I'll check what changes they made, and it should be fixed in the next update.

What bug are you experiencing exactly? How could I replicate it? I couldn't translate your previous message from Russian to my language correctly.

As far as I know, the mechanics have been changed and now "showtost" is working.

This is a bug I've seen several people complain about, but the exact cause is still unknown. I've been investigating it a bit with someone else, and it doesn't seem to be related to BetterTC, since that would only affect a building that's been upgraded or repaired by BetterTC. BetterTC itself doesn't apply any changes unless it's manually activated in that specific TC.

As you say, it seems to be a bug in this latest game update, since it didn't happen before.

This error first appeared for me back in May, and I still haven’t been able to fully fix it — I’ve only managed to minimize it a bit. Based on the dates I checked, at that time I wasn’t using BetterTC yet. I know several people who use BetterTC and never had this issue. However, I also talked to someone who said everything worked fine after he removed BetterTC. From this, I can only conclude that the plugin isn’t the root cause of the problem, but it does seem to be involved to some extent and makes the issue worse.

As I mentioned, I don't think it's the plugin itself. Many people who have purchased this plugin have reported it—only 3 or 4 times at most. And I haven't seen this problem on my server either. It must be a combination of plugins or something like that, although it might be fixed in the next update in December.

I've disabled allowing of using Wallpapers within BetterTC and haven't had the issue of bases dissapearing since disabling.
