New Feature: The plugin now features a fully functional Virtual Powergrid Fusebox that you can use on maps with/without the Powerplant monument. The virtual fuse box is global and shared between all players so they can contribute to keep the Powergrid running. Enable in config and grant the permission powergridstages.fusebox to use (default command is "/fusebox or /fb").

If this plugin added the ability to adjust the time the power grid stays up based on the number of fuses placed, I'd be interested in this plugin.

There are existing ConVars in the game you can play around with to achieve this, mainly powergrid.fuseFullDecayCount, powergrid.fuseSlowDecayFractionMin, powergrid.fuseSlowDecayFractionMax, and powergrid.fuseLifespanSeconds.

To understand how it works, there is a full decay and slow decay. By default it is set that 3 of the fuses only decay at full decay speed (which is set at 9600 seconds or 160 minutes). The rest will decay in the slow rate which is a random number between 8% and 12% of the full rate.

Now if you want that only one decays at a time to have the time scale in a linear fashion, you can do the following:

  1. set powergrid.fuseFullDecayCount 1 - only allows one fuse to decay at full rate at a time.
  2. set powergrid.fuseSlowDecayFractionMin 0 and powergrid.fuseSlowDecayFractionMax 0 - this will prevent other fuses from decaying at all till it comes their time to decay at full rate.
  3. set powergrid.fuseLifespanSeconds - to whatever you want the only decaying fuse to take to full decay, there is 25 slots for fuses i believe in one powerplant, so if you set that at 3600 (1 hour), then it will take total 25 hours for the powergrid to run out if it had a full set of fuses inserted.

Goodluck.

Loaded on my server just fine, however I noticed that it does not show up in "permissions manager"  I can give permissions using the console but this is the first plugin i have encountered that does not work with the other. Not a huge deal but just thought i would let you know.

then why is it not showing up on my server?!?!? ok weird. ok had to reload Permissions Manager and it shows up now. never had to do that before to get a plugin to show up after a server restart with the plugin on the server.

I'd love a simple mod to roll back this stupid Facepunch update so everything just just works without placing fuses.
A mod like this, without fiddling around with settings, will be hugely popular.
Various Admins I have spoken to in the last two days HATE this unnecessary update.

using

powergrid.enabled false

in your console (and adding it to your server.cfg) is the quickest way to negate all of the recent functionality regarding the power grid, unless you:

1. consider that "fiddling around with settings"; or

2. want the benefits of the power grid (buffed recyclers, power available roadside on some power poles, etc) without having to continually provide heavy fuses at the power plant, in which case this plugin bridges that gap and allows you to simplify the process considerably
