That's right, simply add the base item you want to use, enter the correct skin id and custom name and it should work -
You don't need any form of root access to disable the sandbox. You can disable it simply by installing this plugin -
The sandbox does not bring any additionaly security as it can be easily bypassed. According to this post, it will be fully removed with the next oxide update https://umod.org/community/announcements/47115-oxide-development-and-community-update

The blue arrow in your image shows that the skin is still loading. I would suggest to wait a few minutes, then the skin should be loaded -

If you are having issues with custom mixing table and ganja please post them in the support section of ganja. The custom items are using the same skin id as in the ganja plugin and are displayed with their skin. It might take some time tho for the skins to fully load -
