  1. Five years ago we set out on a mission to bring the community together in an attempt to simplify the distribution of free and paid content, as well as opening the door to those who would otherwise be turned away. We're happy to say we've now welcomed over 700 creators from all over the world to make modding more accessible and affordable to server owners. Since we started, the community has exploded and the depth and complexity of plugins has evolved well beyond what we thought possible, and with the abundance of new talent they've become much, much cheaper. When I first started hosting Rust servers back in 2017 almost everything you needed had to be custom made and was insanely expensive, and completely out of the question for smaller servers. Now of days almost anything you can think of is already made and available for download. Every cent earned from sales has been pumped back into our platform to fund our addiction for consistent innovation and growth. I am pleased to announce that we've not made any profit (which is kind of sad ngl) so far, and with the ever-growing roadmap I don't think this will change anytime soon. I'm very proud of the ecosystem we've made over the years and seeing so many people turn their passion into their full time job, including those who help keep things running smoothly here. Every single member on our team is paid for what they do, and that's all thanks to you and our creators! While we certainly aren't without faults, we hope to push forward and continue to grow and innovate to further push the limits of modding and make running servers as easy as we possibly can. If you're reading this, we thank you for helping us get to where we are now, and we promise to consistently evolve to make your hobby, or career, easier and more enjoyable. 2. It has been such an honor to see this platform grow over the years and to have the privilege to meet the over 300 creators we now have today. It is without a doubt our hard work would have been for nothing had it not been for this amazing group of people spending countless hours creating awesome resources for thousands of servers to enjoy, and grow. We also cannot forget our loyal customers who tie everything together and make Codefling possible. I cannot say enough how grateful I am that you chose our platform as your destination for resources. As a thank you, we're waiving all processing fees on all purchases from now until Monday. We're also paying all the processing fees on behalf of the creator so they receive 100% of the purchase amount. Now's an exciting time to try out new things, stock up your map collection and experiment with new tools to give you and your server the edge you need while also supporting creators. All while saving money in the process! Again, we thank you for your business and the memories you've helped create over the years. We look forward to the years to come and will always continue to improve our platform to give you the best possible experience.

  3. While it's pretty uncommon for a file to be outright abandoned or discontinued, it can happen and when it does it really doesn't inspire much confidence when making purchases. Because of this we've always issued refunds where we could on a case-by-case basis, but that was never a guarantee, until now! From now on, any and all purchases made on Codefling comes with a free 6 month warranty that ensures you'll have a working file, or a full refund. If the file is out of SLA the cost will be covered by Codefling, and not the file's author. We hope this gives you more peace of mind when purchasing awesome new plugins and maps for your server! This new warranty has also been automatically applied to all purchases made within the last 6 months as well, so all of your previous purchases are already covered. If you need to make a claim feel free to reach out using one of our many support channels: https://codefling.com/help You can conveniently check the status of this warranty over on your Purchases Dashboard to the left of each purchase. It will indicate if the warranty is still active, or has expired. Hovering over the badge will show you when it expires, or has expired. If you're a Codefling+ member your 2-year warranty will stack on-top of the 6 month warranty!

  4. We’ve updated our review policy to make the feedback process more open, transparent, and now completely community-driven. Reviews will still undergo an initial check to ensure they are appropriate and in line with our terms of service. Beyond this, we will no longer evaluate the authenticity of user experiences beyond what is outlined in our disclaimer. Starting today, the community has taken control of all reviews to improve transparency and fairness. You get to decide what you deem appropriate feedback or not, rather than at the whim of our moderation team. While we worked extremely hard to be transparent and ensure quality reviews, we completely understand that it wasn't a good look. You can mark a review as helpful or unhelpful to increase or decrease the signal from each review. Once a review becomes overwhelmingly unhelpful, it will no longer contribute to the review's rating, but will still be visible, positioned slightly out of sight to avoid occupying screen real estate from helpful reviews. This can go either way, so we'll be actively monitoring review voting activity to ensure the integrity of our new review system and prevent it from being used in an inappropriate way to influence or invalidate reviews, such as coordinated attacks from malicious users or creators trying to boost their ratings. As with everything, we will hope for the best and adjust accordingly. If you have any feedback or questions about these changes, please don't hesitate to ask them here. We're very interested to know what your take is. To read the updated disclaimer, check out https://codefling.com/disclaimer/

  5. Since 2020, creators from all corners of Azeroth the world have uploaded their content, which has been enjoyed by thousands of servers. It was always the expectation that creators would provide updates and support for their files as long as possible, and for the most part, there's not been much of an issue. With now over 700 creators, it's become more common to see creators go MIA or flat-out discontinue files for whatever reason. While there are certainly valid reasons to discontinue a file, we want to ensure it's done so correctly and not in a manner to deceive or defraud customers. Because of this, we've implemented a 6-month minimum expectation to provide ongoing support and updates from the date of publishing on files uploaded to our platform. This gives Codefling the ability to refund on behalf of the creator in the event they become MIA and ensures that if a file needs to be discontinued, they must either find an active maintainer or issue refunds to customers. We've also granted Codefling a non-exclusive, perpetual, transferable license on all files uploaded. This allows us to maintain or assign a maintainer for abandoned files to reduce the amount of abandonware and protect our customers' investment. This also allows us to step in for creators in the event of emergencies where they cannot maintain their files for a temporary amount of time. This new policy change won't change much. It's more of a formality, so we have something solid into writing in the event it happens, though it's pretty rare. These new terms expand the scope of expectations for both customers and creators to ensure everything runs smoothly for years to come. You can find these new policies here: https://codefling.com/creator 2 Year Warranty For those seeking no compromises and who want to ensure their investment is protected for years to come, we've added a 2-year warranty on all purchases made with an active Codefling+ subscription. Files purchased with this subscription will be guaranteed for 2 years for both support and updates. If you purchase a file from the author that's still within its 6-month SLA period, the warranty will begin after that period. In the event a file becomes abandoned or discontinued, Codefling will attempt to maintain or find a maintainer for the file. If this is not possible, we will issue a refund for the original purchase price into account credit. No hoops or hassles. If your subscription expires, purchases made while active will still be under warranty until it expires. However, we've added a few additional perks to ensure you get value out of the subscription even when not purchasing files! You'll see the option at checkout if you're interested in the subscription, or you can get it here: https://codefling.com/subscriptions. To view the fine print, have a look at https://codefling.com/warranty and if you have any questions or feedback for us, please comment below!

  6. With the Jungle update coming this wipe we've added a new file flair which will allow creators to flag their assets and maps as compatible for server owners so they can be confident going into the wipe. Files that are compatible will show with a "Jungle Compatible" badge across the site, including your purchase dashboard. Expanding on the previous flair we had for World 2.0 update, we also added the badge on the file's page to make it easier to spot when browsing for new files. We expect many more maps and assets to become supported prior to the update so please give our creators some time to push updates! Just to clarify, any map or asset will work fine with this update, but it wont include the new Jungle biome which is why we've opted to add a flair for it. This really only applies to maps, but we included it for assets as well to give creators a chance to promote their assets designed for the new biome.

  7. There's been a tremendous trend in AI-generated content in this space, so we felt it was essential to get ahead of it before it spirals out of control. We've seen quite a bit of feedback on our official stance against content made primarily using AI, so before we go full send, we want to make sure we're making the right call. Our current stance on AI content is as follows: Submissions generated entirely by AI are not allowed. However, AI-assisted content is welcome if it enhances your creative process and that any AI usage is clearly disclosed in your product description. We've been more lenient towards product thumbnails and free content where we felt the author was making a reasonable effort to learn. With that being said, I personally feel like it's getting out of control, especially for thumbnails. While we likely won't prohibit the use of AI-generated images, we want to set a clear quality threshold so the site doesn't become a wash of generic looking content. Personally, I feel the biggest concern at the moment is AI-generated plugins, especially those that are paid. I dislike the idea of someone trying to profit from content they did not make, nor are they capable of maintaining outside of their reliance on AI. Full disclosure: I find AI to be extremely helpful, and I use it quite often, but I use it as a tool to improve my process, not completely replace it. Let us know your thoughts about this. Are we being too harsh, or are we making the right call? This may seem pretty obvious from the perspective of a developer, but that's because we understand the code and know how cooked a lot of these AI-generated plugins are. It would be great to have a consumer perspective.

  8. We're excited to announce our huge update that reinvents how you find custom maps, as well as putting hundreds of data points at your fingertips to know everything about the map before you pull the trigger on it. You're no longer at the mercy of the author providing all of the relevant information about their map, as this is now handled automatically by Codefling to expand filtering capability and reduce the burden on authors to keep this information up to date as the map evolves. This is all possible thanks to our new map parser that automatically verifies the integrity of the map file, as well as grabs all relevant information, which allows us to automatically flag problematic maps, as well as expand upon your ability to filter out maps. From map size, monuments, buildable area, biome percentage, down to how many lakes, tunnels, and rails, you can now find the perfect map that fits your server! Additionally, when viewing a map, you'll see a quick overview at the top of the description that provides a comprehensive breakdown of the map's contents.

  9. The time has finally come to switch to Carbon! With full backward compatibility, all your existing Oxide plugins, permission, and user data will work seamlessly with Carbon. The benefit? Auto updating eliminates the need to update it every time a server update comes out, and dynamic hooks, so only the hooks needed by your plugins are called, eliminating over 600+ hooks being called, to name a few. What Is Carbon Carbon is a robust self-updating plugin framework for Rust designed with performance and stability in mind. It has complete backward compatibility with all Oxide plugins, permissions, and user data. It uses the latest C# and Harmony libraries to give developers the tools to let their creativity flourish! Features Always Free - Carbon is, and will always be, free for both personal and commercial use. Full-Time Team - We have full-time developers to maintain and improve Carbon every single day around the clock. Auto Updates - Carbon updates itself and all dynamic hook DLLs at runtime, so you do not need to restart your Rust server when new builds come out. Dynamic Hooks - A crucial distinction that makes Carbon so much different from other frameworks is that although we support all Oxide hooks (appx. +600), they are not called unless a plugin subscribes to them. High Performance - The goal is to make the servers as performant as possible, learn from the community about new ways to do things, and high profiling for tracking any hiccups. C#10 - Carbon natively supports the latest C# version with many improvements and optimizations. All plugins get compiled to the latest C# version. Harmony 2.0 - Carbon runs on Harmony v2.0, which introduces higher performance Pre-&-Post-fixes and even faster transpiler calls, which 99% of running hooks use. DRM Support - This new system allows anyone to create third-party APIs using tools for protecting your plugins from malicious intent. Profiling - Carbon comes with a debug and a release version. The debug version has profiling in the background, designed to report calls and times taken in detail of functions loaded plugins execute. The release version is stripped to provide the fastest and best performance possible. Developer & Admin Tools - We're introducing a few powerful tools for developers that handle many bad practices plugins often do. From cached CUI systems to built-in modules (plugins), Carbon brings servers all essentials needed, RustEdit extensions, modular admin panels where you can manage permissions, and more. Carbon for Client - We're working on a client version of Carbon that communicates with a Carbon server similarly to how CommunityEntity does with the UI. This will introduce new ways to create mods and even load custom 3D models, custom sounds, etc. TBA & WIP. Ready to switch? If you have any questions, please join our Discord server. Otherwise, you can download Carbon right away below! Please note Carbon will officially release in early March, but we highly recommend setting up a test server to ensure a seamless integration! 11. Over a year ago we've implemented processing fees to help cover costs and we're finally happy to announce that it's finally time to ditch them altogether. We're able to cover costs by offering optional services instead such as Codefling Plus. Going forward, the price you pay for everything on our platform will be exactly as advertised and you'll no longer see the "processing fee" tacked on at checkout. This will not affect how much the authors receive from your purchase. Leave us a Review! We'd love to hear from you. If you could spare a couple of minutes out of your day to leave us a review on Trustpilot that would mean a lot to us! https://www.trustpilot.com/review/codefling.com

  14. With the World 2.0 update coming in this wipe, it's crucial for server owners to ensure they're using maps and assets that are compatible with the latest changes. World 2.0 introduces significant modifications that might impact existing content, and we want to make the transition as smooth as possible for everyone. To simplify the process, we've added a new feature that allows creators to mark their files as World 2.0 Compatible. When browsing through the marketplace, keep an eye out for the compatibility label to make sure you're selecting files that work seamlessly with the update. You can also see compatibility information directly from your purchase dashboard. Please keep in mind that it's still early in the update cycle, and our talented level designers are hard at work updating their creations to be fully compatible with World 2.0. We expect a large number of files to be updated over the next few days, so stay tuned for more!

  17. Our new subscription service is finally here! Introducing Codefling+, or CF+ for short. This subscription is tailored to users who frequently use our platform and are interested in discounts and exciting new perks across our website and related services, such as Discord. For starters, Codefling+ subscribers will no longer be charged a processing fee on purchases made. This is valid on all purchases made without limitation! In addition, the subscription offers various perks such as buffs to storage space, upload size restrictions, flood bypass for searches and reactions, higher quality image uploads, and animated profile pictures! While these perks may be exciting to some, the purpose of this subscription is to introduce an opportunity to save money by eliminating processing fees. It's another step forward as we work to phase out fees altogether and instead offer optional paid services to those interested. A full list of perks can be found at https://codefling.com/plus What about Creators? While Codefling+ is tailored specifically towards users, we do plan to release a separate purpose-built subscription for creators later this year once we implement more monetization options for you to utilize. Creator+ will feature the same perks as Codefling+ with the addition of creator-specific perks and benefits. No info is available for said perks and benefits just yet. Renewals The subscription is billed monthly, however, if you're interested in longer renewal terms you can add credit to your CF wallet and have it withdrawn there automatically instead. Additional renewal terms will be added in the future. 18. We're happy to announce Carbon's upcoming release of their Native Mono Profiler which gives servers the ability to profile their servers to identify sloppy code slowing down your server. While this tool is intended for developers, it is exceptionally easy to use for server owners to help identify slow and chonky plugins to instantly increase the performance of your server without having to jump through the rabbit hole of eliminating plugins one by one every time an issue arises. This is going live next forced wipe but can be tested ahead of time using the Edge Build for anyone wanting to get hands-on right now! RustClient_A2ziABArxK.mp4 What is Mono Profiling The Mono Profiler is a Carbon built-in feature, offering high performance and convenience with minimal overhead due to Rust's memory and thread safety features, making it ideal for profiling your server and plugins more efficiently. What is Carbon Carbon is a high performance modding framework designed from the ground up to be more stable and performant than Oxide. We've made it super simple to switch over to Carbon by adding full Oxide plugin compatibility, as well as the ability to Drag and Drop oxide data, plugin data, and config files into your Carbon directory. There's absolutely zero effort required to make the switch, and all of your existing plugins will work on Carbon. Not only will Carbon improve the performance and stability of your server, but our expanded framework and tools will make owning and operating servers a breeze with our in-depth Carbon Panel that allows you to control every aspect of the server and Carbon via an in-game control panel as well as Install, Remove and Configure plugins with our expansive in-game panel without ever having to touch .cs files ever again. This includes paid plugins as well (from Codefling.) With over 2 years of development we're happy to announce that we're in the final stages of release now. 21. Improvements have been made to our search engine, which will now search both titles, descriptions, and tags to provide relative results based on the provided keywords. We also thought it would make more sense to display only files as default. This can be changed per user via the advanced search button or by clicking enter with your keywords. We've also filtered out comments, reviews, and support posts from the results to cut back on the pollution many users have complained about. This, of course, can be changed as mentioned above. You can initiate the process directly from the claims center, though it's recommended to do so from your purchase dashboard, as we're able to prefill much of the required fields for you. Here's a detailed roadmap of everything we've added and changed for our customers! Creators Directory - We know how important it is to protect your ideas from prying eyes, and finding someone you can trust to develop the idea can often times be a pain. Who do you trust to not only develop, but also maintain the confidentiality of your original idea? Our Creators Directory makes it easy finding the right person for the job. Protecting your purchases - We want you to be confident in all your purchases, so we now enforce a 6-month SLA (from publish date) on all files purchased and also offer a 2-year warranty for Codefling+ members from the time of purchase for hassle-free refunds in the event a file becomes abandoned or discontinued. Improved Site Support - We've simplified our support channels to ensure you get fast support regardless where you go. With the addition to our AI support bot that has been training for 8 months now to give you answers to frequently asked questions as well as reliable responses to most inquiries thanks to our growing help articles and support agent responses. Our new bot can also find files for you if you're having trouble remembering its name. We've also added tickets to our Discord to make it even easier to reach out! Search Engine Improvements - We've made several improvements to our quick and advanced search algorithms to improve results while not completely destroying the discoverability of similar files. Improved UX and Speeeeeed - This year has seen major improvement to both user experience and page speeds by advancements in technology and our own wreckless spending to ensure the fastest paint speed with the lowest possible payload possible by using upper-tier servers, edge cache and aggressive image processing to give you the best experience possible. Wishlists - We've made it easy for customers to keep tabs on files by adding them to their wishlist, and will be notified anytime the file is updated or goes on sale. You can arrange items in your wishlist based on your own preferences by dragging them around. You can also make your wishlist public and allow other users to purchase files for you. Useful for server owners to get their players more involved! Improved Purchase Dashboard - The purchase dashboard has been overhauled to give you more options and useful information about your purchased files. With tabs to easily separate files by category, the ability to now search for files, new sorting options, date of last update and a version tracker to let you know when a new file version is available! Purchases_-_Codefling_-_Google_Chrome_2024-09-29_04-06-19.mp4 My Downloads Dashboard - Offering the same features as the purchase dashboard, this page shows you any files you've downloaded, including free files, to give you the same benefits as the purchases page, like seeing when a new version is available, etc. Cart System - If you've been around for a while, you'll remember the old POS system, which required you to buy files individually without the ability to add to a cart and checkout with a single transaction. This was a huge undertaking, and we're thrilled with its reception. File Flairs - When major changes happen in the game that require a major refactoring of plugins and maps, you'll be able to see at a glance what files are compatible with that version of Rust. A badge is displayed on the file's card as well as in your purchases and downloads dashboard. The most recent example of this is the World 2.0 Compatability flair. On-site support is mandatory - Previously, we've allowed creators to disable the support tab on their files to offer their own support channels. We felt this level of freedom would improve the overall experience. While this was mostly true, it often fell short, with customer inquiries becoming lost in the void and us not being able to mitigate requests made off-site. Because of this, we removed the option to disable the support tab to ensure customers always have a dedicated channel for support. Creators are still free to integrate their own support, but they're still obligated to handle support requests made on-site. Mandatory Change logs - Change logs were always optional to eliminate the need to push a new version anytime the details of the file are edited. We've fixed this by improving the experience for creators and not forcing a new version when file details or product screenshots are changed. In addition, we now require changelogs to ensure each version is properly documented so customers know exactly what to expect. Buying and selling graphics - We expanded our catalog and now offer the ability to buy and sell graphics for all of your needs. From icons for plugins, to server logos, headers, etc. We're happy to see so many talented individuals utilizing this service to sell their art! Reduced clutter of features files - Featured files has become a vital part of our platform by enabling creators to improve discoverability of their files, as well as allowing customers to find exciting new files that they may not have found organically. It also gives us the revenue we need to keep platform fees down for creators. We've seen a huge uptick in featured files, which is fantastic for us, but for customers it was starting to clutter their feeds. Because of this, we now limit the amount of featured files that show in each category (limited to 3 rows) and rotate them randomly to give you new content each time you visit. We've also made sure you only see files you don't own, further reducing the clutter. Overhauled public API - We've spent a considerable amount of time this year completely reworking our API to give you more options to automate your workflows and get the fastest responses possible, thanks to our revolving cache that ensures instantaneous responses with reasonable stagnation. The perfect balance (probably). https://codefling.com/db New sorting options - New filter options have been added to help customers filter by files that are on sale to help them get the best deals possible. Additionally, we've added the ability to sort files by best deal and the lowest or highest sale price on the deals page. Review moderation transparency - This has been the center of most controversy over the years so we've taken community feedback and have improved our transparency of file reviews. We've polled the community and majority of our customers approve of how we moderate reviews, so not much in that regard has changed, but now you can see a public feed of all reviews that get accepted and declined, as well as the reason why. We hope this improves transparency and enables us to continue blocking manufactured or overly vague reviews that serve no purpose other than to boost or degrade a file's rating based on personal reasons verses actual feedback. Improved deals page - The deals page is by far our most frequented page by customers. So we felt it necessary to improve the user experience as much as possible by adding additional sorting and filtering as well as tabs to enable separation based on the customer's preferences. Additionally, we've improved the "Best Deals" sorting option and made it the default option when viewing the page. Now you will see the actual best deals first! Evolved Creator Experience This year has also been huge for creators with major features to streamline development, deployment and monetization. We're thrilled to bring on hundreds of new creators this year and are excited to release new features that will make it much easier for both creators and customers! Creator API - This new API allows creators to interact with the platform via code exactly like they would through the browser. This enables endless possibilities to automate workflows and improve the experience of their customers. This is by far the feature we were most excited about this year! CoAuthor Support - Coauthors enable file owners to add co-authors to their files to help spread the workload, from managing file details, pushing file updates and handling support requests. File authors can optionally split revenue with these co-authors to automatically split revenue. Bulk File Sales - This feature allows creators to discount their files all at once, or select multiple files to discount all at once to make doing mass sales easier, and without the need to edit each individual file. More control in your file's ecosystem - We've overhauled creator tools to give you more control within your file's page, such as the ability to hide posts, feature comments and add file messages both public to share information with your customers and private to leave yourself or the team information about your file as well as the ability to toggle purchases and hide your own files. Improved approval times - One of the biggest growing pains we've faced is the ever-growing approval times for new files uploaded to our platform due to the volume of files uploaded on a daily basis. To help combat this we've onboarded additional curators and have increased the commission on file approvals. We're always interested in bringing more curators onboard, so this will improve more over time. I don't really have a screenshot for this to make it uniform with the other entries so enjoy this cat gif. Improved transparency and terms - Over the years we've handled situations on a case-by-case basis, and while this is still true, we've put together a detailed policy to cover most scenarios to give you a good idea of what to expect as a creator on Codefling. While this information will give you a good idea, it's not absolute and may change periodically to align with the best interest of creators and customers. https://codefling.com/creator/ Reordering file screenshots - Prior to this update, creators were forced to upload screenshots in a particular order to show in the carousel a certain way. We felt this was a tad annoying and have implemented the ability to drag screenshots around to order them how ever you'd like. This can be done in both the new version and file edit page. We hope this overview is helpful for you to discover new features and changes you may not have been aware of. Please note there's hundreds of additional bug fixes as well as small UX and design changes that didn't make the list. We only wanted to highlight the larger changes for the sake of brevity. We hope your year was just as fantastic as ours and look forward to years to come!

  36. Comments should be in reverse chronological order so the newest ones are shown first. It's silly having to scroll to the bottom and click the >> link to see the latest comment. Or maybe have some other way of easily accessing the newest posts? They are annoying to access if it's a lengthy thread.

  45. Wouldn't it be better to let authors decide for themselves? Add a tag(similar to Carbon and Oxide support) indicating that only the author is responsible for maintaining the plugin's functionality. If the author is unavailable, Codefling would not assume the right or obligation to provide support. And when attempting to purchase a product that does not grant Codefling the right to support this plugin, the buyer will receive a warning stating that if the author disappears, no one will refund the money or provide support for the plugin. After all, the right to intellectual property has not been abolished by anyone.

  46. A small prompt when someone opens a support ticket, telling them to provide something of substance besides "Don't Work", It could save hours of back and forth in different time zones. They could be notified that providing a video, a log, a little extra detail or a config can help speed up the ticket process.
