New version is crashing the server

Closed 1.2.3

Yac Vaguer

It seems that the latest version is completely crashing the server, I restarted the server 3 times already I unload the plugin and everything seems to work fine

For now I unload the BetterNPC and all works fine, I will need to test it in my local server later, but everything point to this plugin

Hi, the update did not change anything in the plugin, only the class of the patrol helicopter was changed, because the developers changed its name, there were no more changes, you can compare the old and the new version of the plugin to make sure. Therefore, this cannot be related to the plugin update, most likely this opinion is erroneous. But you can send all messages from your console when the plugin is loaded to the server, you can also send server logs for the day when your server stopped and I will help you, even if you don't have a problem with my plugin

Hi Kpuc, I will ran some test in local server to be sure. The error happen when someone want to loot the npcs.  Apparently the error seems to overload the network so rcon and anything else in the server stopped sending report.

but let me check further.

when looting a corpse, the NPC will not be guilty of BetterNpc, BetterNpc can be guilty when someone kills the NPC and a loot is generated inside it. If this happens when killing an NPC, then you need to find the preset of this NPC and find an impossible condition in the loot settings. For example, you specified 3 items to choose from in the loot list, which should appear inside the loot of the NPC, and also indicated that 5 items should appear inside the npc, so you could cause the server to stop because the plugin needs to spawn 5 items, but you specified only 3 to choose from and it tries endlessly find 2 more that don't exist. This is as an example, what could be so that you understand what to look for approximately

First of all, apologies to pop in this conversation, but seeing this guy having issues, i would like to share my knowledge of a potential cause.

May i ask sir @yacvaguer Do you see anything in your logs depending on chickens or any other animal being insta killed under the ground? If so, please disable the chickens and see if it still persists. If it does, and the server still poops on you, try to disable the brains of the AI and see if that would fix the problem. ( Do keep in mind, that disabling the brain cells of the AI will also result in them not being able to path find and standing still to make selfies. This includes chinooks, patrol helicopter spawns and cargo ship, as they all follow a path, they fall under this convar )

The convar for that is

ai.think false

Last time, i had a similar situation where chickens actually crashed the server ( freezes ) because they kept being spawned in and Insta killed as they could not be properly placed on the map.

Thank you for the feedback and idea @GamingHQ no worries and thank you for adding your thoughts. I saw someone ask about chickens recently somewhere and I was like what the hell? Now I know!

i had some major issues with those pesky chickens @Jbird

I believe it's due to the procgen generator that's not properly working as intended. I have recently seen screenshots of powerline poles for the zipline flying mid-air as well, so it would not surprise me its a corrupted map file. The only way i was able to fix the problem, was by generating a new map.

Hope this helps.

Much paws

Noize.
