    Based on the behavior I am seeing am I safe to assume that the "Closest Reward" feature has been deprecated? That is fine by me but would just like to know for certain.

    Closest reward is the standard. It gives rewards based on what you have set up in the rewards section. See the description of the plugin (at the bottom) for more information.
