Has the need for LootManager been removed?  Given the volume and severity of the problems reported with LootManager, will the dependency on it be removed?

Thank you.

Hello, not yet, but it will naturally happen, one plugin can't be dependent on another remote plugin, right? 🙂 KpucTaJI is working on an update. Since you mentioned a lot of problems, I'll answer that, personally I haven't encountered any major problems, I can only understand that people have a lot of configuration files, but since I just migrated data and didn't reconfigure events, I didn't even encounter with this problem. I would appreciate it if you could describe the problems you are facing.

I have only attempted the NPCSpawn update on a test server to the point where I realized I would need LootManager.  I stopped the update process after reading through reviews, support requests and discussion surrounding LootManager.  i run over 200 plugins on my main server, and have no interest in introducing a plugin(LootManager) that appears to have caused a lot of grief to many others.  I am hoping that I can wait out the removal of LootManager from the MANY plugins that I run that suddenly rely on it.

Thanks.

If you have a desire, you can make a copy of the main server and run it as a local one, I will help you with the correct transition, and then you will draw your own conclusions. Ideally, I would like to do this in a discord because of real-time communication and other useful functionality. @shrpndfcsd

But there are a few more nuances. First of all, as I said earlier, most of the problems are most likely caused by user errors, I'm not saying that LootManager is good or bad, I'm just saying that everything has been stable since the transition, and most of the problems are caused by an incorrect transition and lack of backup, which is never the case in server administration. It won't be superfluous. Secondly, it is far from certain that the new version of NpcSpawn, which will not require LootManager, will have the same smooth transition from NpcSpawn 2.8.4 and BetterNpc 1.3.3 as from the latest versions at the time of this update. In fact, it's sad that, apparently, an experienced administrator draws conclusions simply from the comments of other people, about whom you probably don't know much, when you have the opportunity to check it on a local server, it's also possible to provide specific points that you will encounter, believe me, neither Adem nor KpucTaJI wants to do administrators' lives are worse, but sometimes this happens, and in this case it is very important to inform them in a timely and specific manner, so that, among other things, it does not turn out the way it happened with Loot Manager.

Hello aimacak,

Let me preface this by saying ; I truly appreciate your response, an your enthusiastic willingness to assist, I really do, people like you make this community great.

I have my main server replicated to my test server, but as you could likely imagine, with many plugins(less it seems every day) relying on a plugin that the author is removing from this site do to issues, whether they be with the plugin or otherwise, I don't have the time or enthusiasm right now, to sink into making everything function only to be forced to cut the cord the moment it gets removed.  It should not be hard to understand that reviews, feedback, complaints and opinion mean something to anyone being told to install any particular plugin. If this was a simple endeavour, with just minor user errors causing a problem, the plugin would not be on the chopping block to begin with.  The fact that many of us were suddenly being told without warning that new updates to existing plugins would require another new plugin was not openly welcomed, there were concerns. Again, I appreciate your willingness to assist in this matter, and look forward to moving forward.

Thank you.

I thank you in return for your courtesy, adequacy and kind words.
I'll just say that I try to check everything personally, and then it's more interesting to look at the reviews 😉

Of course, in this formulation it sounds like nonsense, but the nuance of migrating to an even newer version is still relevant, because there is really little chance that migration from older versions will be supported, jumping over the current one to the new one, which will not have a LootManager. Of course, the chances of conflicts and incorrect transfers increase in this case, because KpucTaJI will have to consider two migration options already.

So, anyway, you can always ask for help, preferably before several overlapping failed attempts, unfortunately, there were a lot of such situations in the latest NpcSpawn and BetterNpc updates, and even when trying to do a clean install.

Thanks you too 😉
