Please allow us to configure the transparency of the map marker. Currently it is enormous and blocks everything under it.

You can already do this. Just append the alpha value at the end of the hex color. E.g. red #FF0000 -> semi-transparent red #FF000055. Use 00 for full transparency, FF means no transparency
