Players stuck in building foundation.

Can't Reproduce 1.0.2

I'm having a problem in that players are getting stuck in a building foundation where I created my Start Point.  The foundation is built approximately .25m above map grade.  I have tried creating my Start Point using 2 methods.  One, physically standing on the foundation.  Two, in Noclip mode floating above the foundation about .5m.  Regardless of which method I use the players are spawning stuck about knee height down into the foundation and cannot move.  Most are logging off right after so I lose that new player and others of course ask for help in chat and if I am on I tp over and /remove the foundation to get them free.  I realize I could change my design but should this not work as intended?  Thanks for any help.

I've tested a few scenarios and this issue would arise on slower servers or clients. The teleport function was changed to try and prevent this.. I'll have another play... may just need to add a timer to the spawn wake...

I'm making some changes and adding a timer. If you could drop me a message in the discord I'd like for you to test, As on my dev server its working fine out of the box and I'd like to send you a version to try and resolve the issue your having.

Hey Mike,

I just loaded the update onto my test server so I will watch it for a few days as new players log in and report back.  It's logical because I have new players spawning in front of a HUGE hotel so likely it was not fully rendered when they spawned in.  You are welcome to log onto the server and see it work (lol or get stuck depending).  Feel free to delete this connect after you see it, this test server is scheduled to be taken down permanently in about a week.

I'll jump on in a little bit.. I'm hoping it's just the process is running too quickly and that a the timer will help slow it down and give the client a chance to catch up... This is running 2 processes to try and get the buildings to spawn.. if it doesn't quite do the trick then I have some other ideas up my sleeve :D

Hmm, well maybe still a problem and the timer may have added a second problem.  This player "BearclawBrandon" in attached picture "snip" logged on and off almost 5 hours ago.  He now seems to be sleeping upright at the Starting Point.  Its possible he logged in and got stuck in foundation like other players then logged off right after?  AND....after closer look I can see there are actually 2 players stacked in the same spot.  A second player is there "Wiccn" is ghosted inside Bearclaw.  Wiccn logged on and off almost 9 hours ago.

In second picture attached "snip2" from a couple days ago.  You see the player(s) sleeping on ground.  This was my original Starting Point and I /remove'd the foundation to free them.  But I would guess there are actually 6-7 ghosted players on top of one another here.  They would log on, get stuck in foundation, and log off right after, stack with other players.

And as I took these pics a player logged on and off right away and he spawned about 4-5 blocks away from spawn point.

I'm not sure if this is normal or not but something else I will add.  You know how you can walk right through a sleeping player on the ground?  Like you can look down and see your feet and legs ghosted inside them.  Well the 2 new sleeping upright players are a solid mass that you cannot walk through, you have to walk around them.

on top of each other is fine because its a single point that they are teleporting too... and walking through them is fine because well... rust 😛 as for the guy sitting in mid air... that seems to be a dismount issue... however how he got there is the question... are you using "Only Spawn at SpawnPoint true/false": true?
wondering if he died and it hasnt dismounted him.. still odd though as that should be done through rust.....

I've joined your server and there is something majorly wrong in that area and something is causing a compatibility issue... local player is being set up multiple times....  are you getting any rcon errors? I spawned outside the area as there was a packet flood on first connect and then as i entered the beach i had red text and my play model turned into the blob... are you running anything else in this area?

Thanks for checking things out there.  I pasted my current json config file for you below.   Maybe there are some settings here I need to adjust?  And currently my "Only Spawn at SpawnPoint" is False so I just changed it to True, see it that helps.  I guess my goals were when a new player logs onto the server I would like them to spawn in front of the Hotel, but then after that if they respawn in the future then I would like it to be random and let Rust decided location because by that time they will learn they can always get back to the hotel using /town.  With that idea in mind should my settings be different than what i have posted below or is it even possible?

I checked a days worth of RCon logs including when you were on today and I'm not seeing anything unusual at all.  I attached two pics that show a complete listing of all plug-ins installed so if you glance through it maybe something will pop to mind as to what could cause the issue.  Only things I can think of that have to do with spawning is that I'm using plugins like NTeleportation and HomesGUI.  I also have some things installed that use zones like TruePVE, Zone Manager, Zone Domes, and ZoneManagerAutoZones.

And LOL don't know what is up with Giveaway its been working perfect for a couple weeks so I will restart server.  I think that blob was just a blip.

Also as a side note I was not sure what "AutoRespawn" setting is used for so I left it at the default False.

I think worst case scenario for me here is I will sign off the hotel as two massive and causing players lag when they first log in.  I will ether move Starting point to a place just outside of the foundations or maybe even further where they just see it in the distance.

Here is a large chunk of RCon report, looks normal to me.  Sorry I missed you today, unfortunately the times I am on you are likely not because of our time difference.  This is not an emergency or anything though and I appreciate your offer to help and advise.

Auto Respawn just removes the death screen. You could use the plugin as say a small scale event that way..
Im having a hard time replicating the issue... 
Do you have a discord etc? I can send you a version with a few test commands in it and we can try and replicate the issue and juggle some plugins... see if the issue is something silly.
for the mean time, i see random spawns is in the list.. thats not actively running is it? and with zones.... are you stacking zones? as in, say you have a zone around that monument you've made and a zone around the spawn... if thats the case set Zone On StartPoint true/false": false,
I think its going to be something really stupid thats causing this... but i've taken my slowest machine and pasted in some big bases and still not getting the issue 😞 so we really need to work together on this to figure it out..

Well zones could definitely be an issue.  I am using TruePVE which basically takes the whole map and turns into a PvE zone.  So a player cannot be killed by another player, but a player can still be hurt by anything else.  A player cannot be killed when sleeping but they can be looted.  Then I am using AutoZones to create PVP zones over certain monuments.  You can see these areas as there is a bubbled dome over them.  And now lets add to the complexity, we have a zone created by StartingPoint where a player cannot be looted or killed which is a small zone which is withing the TruePVE zone and next to neighboring PvP zones, lol.  I like very much the fact that the newly spawned player gets a message "Welcome to server..." and when they step outside of the StartingPoint zone I changed the message to "Have fun /info /rules".

Some observations since the last update.  There is a scattering of 20 new players since Friday and they are in various around the hotel and some grids away.  So obviously not everyone is getting stuck.  At the same time I saw in my chat log a couple players saying "help I'm stuck" and I am find players stuck in the new StartingPoint I created.  So not all but some.  It may be possible the problem is caused by the players

Another observation.  This time when I logged on the Starting Point message when I walk around starting point is not working for me.  I actually noticed this the other day so at that time I did a /SetStart again and it worked right after as it should.

Finally, if I go to F1 console and type WipeStart I do not get a message back confirming it performed the command, like "Starting Point was wiped".

And lets end with something weird.  There is a "player" this wipe on my server that seems to be on all the time named "auxd".  He has a steam history, but using admin radar I cannot find his base or him.  He will not respond to chat.  And then from Rustadmin I decide to use command "teleport trusty auxd" and console confirms I teleport and so does in-game.  HOWEVER, I travel nowhere even though it says "I teleported to auxd".  Why do I mention this?  I was just now near StartingPoint with my AdminRadar still on and what do you know, floating in the air right next to StartingPoint is the name "auxd".  No player, just his name floating in the air.  What is this?  I kicked him.

I just now downloaded the new StartingPoint update.  I completely wiped all prior files from server and starting with a fresh installation and server reboot.  I will keep watching for a couple days and let you know if anything changes.  I am going with the following settings let me know if this is what you think should work:

I've added you on discord.. we can continue there once you accept my request... Starting point would of disabled on update as it changed a config value..

As for wipestart. It is a console command but will only reply in rcon not the F1 console.

I'm going to close this ticket as cannot reproduce.. because.. well I cant and I get pinged twice a day about it. But I'm going to sort this with you via discord.. I'll make a test version for you and we can bug this out together.
