autoturret not targeting animals

note that this behavior was also prevent on the latest version but this version is the most stable for me.

i place an auto turret (hostile)

i spawn a bear

auto turret is not targeting bear

autoturret targets NPCs - true 

any help? i would like them to be targetable and damageable by autoturrets as normal rust. thanks!

Similar perhaps to the fact that the SAM sites do not target the heli, this may or may not be possible since it would require active targeting of the animals.  At the moment, I don't recall if that is default behavior.

I have managed to create a small plugin that enables animal targeting.  It's probably best if this is handled separately (?).

good morning. i tested the plugin and it works allows autoturrets to target animals

 

BUT there's no damage i checked pvelogs

there's no trap_animal option. i tried trap_npc but looks to work only for zombies/scientists

I've done some tests and the plugin (animal turrets) seems to introduce a bit of lag to the server something to the tune of ever 15 minutes around 5 seconds  worth of lag/rubberband. I did tests on disabling and enabling it and was able to replicate the symptom. It's a PVE server but we only have 1x spawn so it shouldn't have put too much stress on the server if its based on the number of animals. I had to disable it for now.
