Hello.

In order to use the dependency, do you have to self-host? I just don't have the time nor the desire to be messing around with all that, unfortunately. I didn't expect this to be so complicated. I would like a Discord bot that messages users to link their accounts, as users tend to miss the link I have currently, but not if I have to literally host something completely separate from my main server to make it happen. Tbh I'd sooner just eat the $30 for this mod than go through and have to set all that up.

Hello, the product has nothing to do with what you’re asking. Are you sure you’ve posted this on the correct plugin? This isn’t a linking bot, and it doesn’t claim to be in the description or name, which makes me think you may have posted on the wrong page?

I'm speaking of the dependency this plugin requires to work, Simple Link.

I'm literally on day two of trying to figure this all out, and if I should spend even more money to make this work or just scrap it and just go the refund route. The author of Simple Link has offered me no help thus far. I assume since you require Simple Link and obviously used it heavily to develop this plugin, you would know how it works, no?

Really cool that I won't be able to get this done before wipe now at this point.

Ah I see! Right so you're actually struggling with Simple Link, I can't see that you've even opened a support request with him? Simple Link - Discord & Steam Linking System - Tools - Codefling I suggest you do this if you need help installing.

Really, is it not my responsibility to help install a dependency that's clearly marked on the plugin? However, I am willing to help with this if you would like, although there is no way I can do this before forced wipe. Developers tend to be very busy just before forced updating their plugins. I appreciate you are struggling and I am willing to help, however a please and thank you would go a long way rather than kicking off in a support chat about someone else's plugin and threatening a refund you're not entitled to.

Please, in the first instance, open a support ticket with Simple Link. If you do not get the help you need, I can help you after forced wipe.

Brother, I have not purchased Simple Link; that's the whole thing, so I cannot create a support ticket there. I can only post in the discussion. I'm not going to purchase a plugin before I know if it is going to work for me. I thought Simple Link would be much simpler, but upon further inspection, that couldn't be further from the case. If I have to self-host anything, for any reason, then I'm not interested. I'm not asking you to help me set anything up; I am asking a simple question about the dependency that your plugin, which I have purchased, requires to work. And it's literally a simple question: Do I have to self-host anything?

also I'm not threatening anything. But if I literally can't use your plugin obviously I'm going to submit for a refund as any person would.

So you purchased my plugin without even owning the dependency needed to use it, then gave me a poor review for not saying I’d set up another person’s plugin for you because it looks too complicated... sure.

I’m clearly not going to answer questions like "Do I have to self-host anything?" about someone else’s plugin. Next time I suggest you read the dependencies properly, because if they look too complicated for you, best not to use them.

Yes, I figured I would purchase them both together because, as I stated previously, I would like a linking system in the Discord to message players directly. Two birds, one stone, I figured. But before I purchased Simple Link, I noticed it was talking about self-hosting. Hence the question, and hence why I would come to you to ask it.

Right, maybe check before you purchase them next time. Then when one looks too hard, don’t slam the developer of the other plugin and wreck his ratings because someone else’s plugin looks too difficult for you. I even offered to set it up for you if the owner of that plugin can’t help, and you actually ask without demanding. That’s well burnt now. You can’t get a refund because it’s a digital product you’ve downloaded.

The craziest part is that you could've just said yes or no, it's not like you don't know the answer.

Conversation’s well over in my opinion, you asked me for support on someone else’s plugin, that’s where you went wrong. Your biggest mistake here is not reading everything, including dependencies, before you buy. Don’t buy one then read the other, then complain to the other dev who has nothing to do with that plugin about how awkward it feels to you.

I’m not going to answer questions relating to someone else’s plugin, it may have changed since I last worked with it directly so I wouldn’t want to give wrong information. You could have and should have just asked them directly. The craziest part is you slammed me over someone else’s plugin looking difficult. Don’t worry about it, I’ve reported you to CF anyway. You can’t start blaming everyone else for the fact you didn’t read everything in full, and you definitely can’t start leaving bad reviews on someone’s work because they wouldn’t set up and answer questions about someone else’s plugins for you.

I thought I had done enough reading into each. I thought both had optional hosting, but I started to have doubts as I read again before purchasing Simple Link. Maybe I could've mixed the two up since this one's hosting IS optional, and I was looking at both at the same time, I figured, so I asked over there in the discussion, didn't get much, definitely nothing from the author, so then I came here just to ask you because I figured at the very least you'd try to help me figure it out since I did already purchase your plugin. That's literally it, brother.

Yeah, which I did offer to help: “I am willing to help with this if you would like, although there is no way I can do this before forced wipe. Developers tend to be very busy just before forced updating their plugins. I appreciate you are struggling and I am willing to help, however a please and thank you would go a long way.”

The way you came across was not good, then a very negative review, which frankly is totally defamatory as you haven’t even tested my plugin as you can’t because you don’t even own the dependency yet! It’s fine, we will let CF resolve this. I don’t want to argue on an open forum like this, it’s not good for either of us.

I'm perfectly fine with that. My thing is that Simple Link's documentation didn't make it super apparent as to whether or not it's optionally self-hosted. It seems like it potentially is, but I really couldn't fully tell by the requirements. So I figured if you had a current version of this plugin that you made running somewhere for testing purposes, then clearly you'd also have a current version of Simple Link running as well and could potentially give me an answer. That just doesn't seem crazy to me at all to assume. But I guess, as you said, codefling will decide.
