My players have started complaining that some plates have stopped providing bonuses. So far, only this one has been noticed. I’m not sure whether all plates of this type are not working. Other plates, according to the players, are working fine.

Hello. This is only possible if you change the configuration this way. Otherwise, the plates cannot have different behavior.
