what you trying to customize? you shouldn't be getting RPC error unless you messing with source code

I do everything as described on the page. Then when I click the first one I get kicked off the server and get this RPC error

Send me your configuration files.

I'm currently editing the pre-made template

I tried your config and its alright, maybe there is something wrong in cuiData or maybe addons config?
If you can sell me those other files I will try them on my server too.

So for me it was right after the download. (unedited files)
I can't tell exactly what the problem is as the pre-built panels all work. The RPC error only comes when I want to edit the panel myself. Maybe it doesn't harmonize with the plugins I had or have on it.

You must be entering some wrong value into cuiData file.
