I don't know if it's really a bug but if the connection to the database can't be established, the server lags and all players are clicked. This has only recently happened.

Yes, this is certainly a thing if the SQL connection attempt times out.
I'm not sure if there's a way around that now, it's possible, but there wasn't when I last looked into it.

It's not ideal, for sure, but shouldn't be a problem once the credentials are all correct and tested + working.

Have you had timeouts under these circumstances?

Yes, the login information is correct. It has happened from time to time that the database server was (external) unreachable and the error was triggered.

Good afternoon everyone.

Since this has been brought up I would like to report this situation occurred for the first time on my server shortly after a manual restart of my server. 

I force closed the server window, restarted as usual, and now everything appears to be functioning as expected.
