BotRespawn & BetterNpc

Pending 1.2.5

Hello,

We use BetterNpc on our PvPvE server. We picked up BotRespawn to add additional "customized npc's" to the map as well as further customization to the existing npcs that are populated either by vanilla or by BetterNpc. The problem we ran into is when we loaded BotRespawn onto the server it removed all the npcs populated by BetterNpc. Is there an option for BotRespawn to run on the server without removing npcs generated by BetterNpc?

We unloaded BotRespawn from the server however, the npcs from Betternpc didnt repopulate and now we're getting error msgs in server console. I've included a screen shot of the errors.

What did BotRespawn do, and can we use BotRespawn the way we intended to when purchasing it?

Hi

Your issue seems to have come from a problem in your betternpc config or data file.

it’s a coincidence, I’m afraid.
BotReSpawn didn’t cause this. 👍

BotRespawn messed with something because all the npcs were working before loading it onto the server.

We unloaded betternpc and reloaded it but it didnt fix the issue. Then, we deleted the BetterNpc data and config folders in oxide and replaced them with last night's backups but that didn't bring them back either. All the npc's were on the map and working prior to loading BotRespan onto the server about an hour ago.

Also, after loading BotRespawn we seemed to have lost our ServerHud plugin as well. That came back by unloading and reloading and replaing the data and config folders with last nights back ups. So, I didnt metion that in the initial support request.

JsonReaderException: Unexpected character encountered while parsing value - line 0, position 0.
^ This error is occurring when BetterNPC is loading its config file.

BotReSpawn definitely has nothing to do with that, or your ServerHud issue.

The error you've shown means, in the vast majority of cases, a user has made a mistake when editing the config file.
In rarer cases it could be data corruption or an issue that resulted in the config file being saved as null.

I'd recommend unloading BetterNPC then restoring its config file and data files from backups,
but also verifying those files with a visual inspection, and also by passing them through https://jsonlint.com
before reloading the plugin.

I'm quite sure the authors of ServerHud and BetterNPC will tell you the same thing. 👍
