Broken orientation of NPC

I've been struggling with the broken NPC spawn orientation for almost two and a half months.
Previously, when using the

/set.custom.npc

NPC would face the direction the player was looking at the time of placement.

Now, regardless of where the player is looking, the NPC always spawns facing the same direction.
