Failed to compile: The type or namespace name 'API' does not exist in the namespace 'Carbon' (are you missing an assembly reference?) | Line: 6, Pos: 14

 

Since I am not using Carbon, should I just use one previous version?

Yes, use the previous version, If im correct installing carbon will transfer all your oxide plugins over so its good to have it but reverting to the whole version will work but not have the latest features that might come up.
