How to spawn bots around Players

I am trying to figure out if its possible to use this mod to control bot spawns in a radius around the players on the server. Im making a PvE server and want to essentially have "random encounters". For example, every 5 minutes I want it to spawn an NPC within a 40 meter radius of the player - is that possible? 

If it is not possible with the current version of the mod, do you have any suggestions for other plugins that would allow me to do this?
