Having more than a handful of npcs render the server unplayable

Situation: Only one or two player on the server and speaking about server (not client) fps:

Having 40 roamingnpcs spawned at random roadpoints (4 groups with 10 bots) nearly all are just walking around, some doing harvesting, the server fps drop from 80-90 down to 10-20. Unplayable laggy and unresponsive.

Having 20 roamingnpcs spawned at random roadpoints (4 groups with 5 bots) nearly all are just walking around, some doing harvesting, the server fps drop from 80-90 down to 30-40. Drop not acceptable for having some fun npcs doing nearly nothing.

My personal opinion: The software RoamingNPCs is a nice prove of concept, when used with the example configuration. However, considering the other errors found and the fatally poor performance, it is not usable in production. If possible, I like to have my money back and will no longer play tester for alpha stage software.

What do you mean by fatally poor performance? On average every RNPC bot takes around 2 FPS, and it can be configured to be even less. Did you try to change brain tick of bots in config? Any plugin with a large amount of bots will lower your fps, in our plugin each bot makes a lot of calculations each tick to find entities around, make a path and etc, so it requires good server hardware, ofc we have optimized what we could

Idk about your hardware, but if you have 80-90 fps atm it wouldn’t be enough even for real players, your fps will drop over time during the wipe because players will build bases and fight with bots
