I'm trying to get my spawned roaming npc's and spawned npc's at monuments to fight each other. I have some scientists I've setup with kits as faction 2 and some bandits with kits as faction 1. They do everything correctly and fight each other when they encounter each other. I have npc's set to attack.

Problem is when for instance the bandits encounter standard scientists at monuments that are in the game by default they try and attack them, the default scientists dont seem to really care at all since they arent on a faction and the bandits endlessly circle the area while dropping and regaining agro.

And since spawned scientists and default scientists arent on the same faction the spawned ones kill the defaults ones. Is there anyway to get the default scientists onto faction 2? Not sure if this is possible.

Hi,
By default scientists do you mean vanilla?
If so, the faction settings don't apply to them, I'm afraid.
Faction settings are rules for how BotReSpawn npcs treat each other.


You should be able to make all BotReSpawn npcs ignore the vanilla npcs by setting Target_Other_Npcs to Ignore in the UI, under 'Behaviour', though.
It should work but please let me know if it doesn't.

Pretty sure it will work, but it kinda ruins the fantasy of the bandits and scientists fighting if some of them just ingore each other. Hopefully it gets overlooked by anyone who happens to see it in game. XD

I will just set them to ignore. Thank you for the help.

Not sure if it'll work in to your theme or not but you could use NPCKits (mine..free) to dress the vanilla scientists in a different way,
perhaps making them a neutral third party? Just civilians, or something like that?


It's easy to use, if you're not familiar, with a UI very similar to BotReSpawn.

I also have an update queued for NPCKits that lets you totally disable spawning for certain monuments/types of vanilla npc so, depending on the location, you may be able to use that to just get rid of them.
What vanilla npc spawn locations are you having this issue at?

Getting rid of them would definitely be the best option, then I can just replace them with botspawns.

The main places would be anywhere that vanilla spawns appear outside like train yard for example.

For now I have just disabled the factions.
