fallen drones

Hi, I have noticed that drones can fall out the sky and sit on the ground or rooftops doing nothing I then have to go around find and completely destroy them before the next Wave will come in, on occasions I can't find them, is this intentional?

Would it be possible to have them self-destroy or something similar if they're not active? hopefully this would make the next wave commence.
